Caitlin was very prepared and had tons of Maternity Photo Ideas including a Pinterest board. Now let me say this some of us photographers hate when some come at us with a Pinterest board such as Maternity Photo Ideas, but to me it helps give me a feel of what your looking for, such as poses, backgrounds and ect. Although, I always tell them to check out my website or Facebook page to make sure my style fits their needs. So, as Caitilin and I discussed there were some things I didn't have or what my style would look like and she was completely happy with that...
If you are expecting, want to do a maternity shoot soon and you're curious about what poses or what to wear just take a look at these images. I so loved her long flowy dress that we shot in just my studio yard. The tall grass and fall colors popping through the trees were beautiful. Next she wore cute blue jeans with just a cute bra top. Of course we didn't time the water scene just right. Here in Central Mississippi we never know what the weather will be like, from day to day. We did have to daddy a few extra brownie points for stepping in this "Oh" so cold water, right here in D'Lo Mississippi. Close to the same area where Brother where art there was filmed.
With 13 years of experience I will be happy to help your with all of your maternity photography ideas, if you are clueless and not sure what you want or even how to pose. That is what I am here for. Although, if you do have ideas lets see them. I love to try new things and locations. Most of the time my maternity photoshoots occur between 28 and 34 weeks. The bump has a full round shape during this time and the expectant mom still feel comfortable enough to move and pose about. But what mom doesn't want to get glazed up and feel beautiful. Don't feel limited to just a dress. Plan accordingly to the season. Wear a comfy sweater and jeans. In spring, choose soft pastel colors that match the background that you choose. Solid colors always works best. Try hard not to be too "matchy" with your partner. Complementary colors work together well.
A maternity photo shoot is basically celebrating the "belly/baby". It's also about mom and dad excitement about becoming patents. Most of our poses are focused on are around cradling the belly as our sweet little bundle of joy is growing inside. Looking lovingly into one another's eyes, sweet kisses or holding each other. Always be creative but most importantly be you! I as a professional photographer (for sure not a writer), wants to capture this moment to tell a story of unforgettable moments. So if you have something like shoes or books that mean something to you by all means bring them but you don't have too. I am so completely blessed to have been able to capture these precious moments to mark this time for Caitlin, now we are just waiting on baby boy to make his grand appearance to capture his newborn images.
Isn't she beautiful pregnant with that sweet glow. I hope this inspires another mom to be, to capture these sweet moments. Lets inspire other moms to take pregnancy photos.
