Choosing a newborn photographer is not easy! There are so many photographers out there with different approaches to their sessions, different styles, and different price points. At first, it may seem impossible to choose a newborn photographer among the sea of photographers out there, but it’ll be easier if you know what to look for. Here are some ways to make the choice a little easier.
How to Choose a Newborn Photographer
Style
Now think about your style. Do you prefer images that are classic and timeless? Images that include a lot of props? Color images? Black and white images? The photographer’s style is so important when it comes to the collection of images he/she will put together for you. Make sure you look for consistency in the photographer’s portfolio so that you know the types of images you are going to get on the day of your session. Also, make sure you like the photographer’s selection of hats, headbands, blankets, etc. Don't be afraid to reach out to them. In some cases like mine, I have been able to help my clients with a different style of their choice. Also, if they are any thing like I am, I always have props in a cart just waiting for a newborn to use them. Or even to try something different.
Experience
Newborn photography is beautiful, but it is very important that your photographer be experienced in order to make sure he/she can create those beautiful images that you dream of. Make sure your photographer has plenty of experience working with newborns so that you can be sure he/she will know how to correctly pose your baby in a safe way. Or even poses that you like. Check out the photographer’s portfolio and blog to make sure he/she has plenty of diversity among his/her clients. Do not be afraid to talk to clients of theirs that you might know. Ask them how their experience was! Even read the reviews.
Pricing
Once you’ve narrowed down your potential photographers, reach out to them to receive access to their pricing. Make sure you completely understand their approach to pricing, as this differs from one photographer to another. Be well-informed as to what their session fee includes if anything and how the images will be delivered to you. I choose to have my clients to have an ordering session. So that I can help them with their purchase within their budget and get what their dream wall art is.
Products
Be sure to ask about the products offered by your photographer. You’ll likely want birth announcements, albums, canvases, and prints from your session. It’s important that your photographer be affiliated with a professional lab in order to have access to the best quality products in the industry. Just don't get digitals and run with them. Allow us to create something special and unforgettable for you.
